MAS BOUZIGE - Bed & Breakfast in Languedoc-Roussillon (Occitanie) | Chambresdhotes-in-Frankrijk.be

On holiday to the Languedoc region in France. The subtropical climate of Languedoc-Roussillon appeals to many holidaymakers. This region in the south of France offers a very varied landscape: beaches on the Mediterranean Sea, mountains from the Pyrenees to the Cevennes, the largest natural park on the French mainland.

We live at the foot of the Parc National des Cévennes, which is located in the southern part of the Massif Central. It is the most unspoilt and sparsely populated nature reserve in France. All kinds of wild animal species live there, including wolves, eagles and vultures. Spectacular in this area are the gorges of the Tarn River, which flows through high limestone cliffs. The region has an enormous number of beautiful exploited caves. In the northeast, the national park borders that of the Ardèche (30 km from us), another very popular French holiday region.

We have 3 studios named CLAIRETTE, ROUSSANNE and CARIGNAN. These names refer to grape varieties that are frequently used in Languedoc-Roussillon.

Surroundings

Since the administrative reorganization of France, the former region of Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France has become part of the new region of Occitanie. Languedoc-Roussillon borders the Mediterranean Sea and Spain in the south. In the west it borders the Midi-Pyrénées. In the north are the former regions of Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. To the east lies Provence. The Gard is the northernmost part of the Languedoc-Roussillon and borders the Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes, Provence, the Mediterranean Sea and the Hérault. The region has a mild and sunny Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers, moderate temperatures in spring and autumn. The months of May and September are ideal times to visit this region. The tourist crowds are not too bad and the temperatures are pleasant.

The landscape in 'the Languedoc' is very varied: mountainous areas, river gorges, wooded hills, lagoons, sandy beaches and famous wine regions alternate. You will find unique buildings such as the Roman Pont du Gard, the castle of Carcassonne and the Cathar castles. Numerous authentic towns and villages and of course the beaches on the Mediterranean coast also invite holidaymakers to visit.

You won't get bored of the many historic cities whose history dates back to the Middle Ages or even to Roman times.

The city of Montpellier is the capital of the former Languedoc-Roussillon region. The old town is especially worth seeing. Stroll through the maze of narrow alleys and admire the grand mansions. You can also shop to your heart's content in the car-free shopping streets. The Place de la Comédie square is an ideal place for a drink - you will find plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants! You will also find the Mare Nostrum aquarium and the Parc Zoologique there.

Nïmes is a city that was already known in Roman times. The number of Roman buildings is astonishing: the Arènes de Nîmes (an impressive amphitheater), the Maison Carrée (a former Roman temple) and La Tour Magen (Roman tower, part of the city wall) all invite you to visit. In the city park Le Jardin de la Fontaine you will find another Roman remains: the Temple de Diane.

Aigues Mortes was founded in the 13th century and is a beautiful fortified town not far from Montpellier. The completely walled town has impressive old city walls with a super cozy and nice old center full of boutiques and restaurants. In the area of Aigus Mortes you will find special pink salt lakes.

But Orange, Avignon and Arles are also within reach and you can taste Provence there.

The Cévennes Natural Park and the Haut-Languedoc Natural Park are the two regional natural parks in Languedoc-Roussillon.
