Domaine de la Porte is a small-scale holiday resort that focuses strongly on families with children up to about 8 years old during the school holidays. There is less connection for older children (there will be (almost) no peers).

A maximum of 11 families are present at the Domaine at the same time, which guarantees a relaxing holiday for all family members in a family atmosphere.

Every day (except on Saturdays) sports, games, crafts, etc. are organized twice a day for an hour for children from 2.5 years old. For children younger than 2.5 years, there is childcare in the crèche twice a day for an hour. This means that parents with very young children can really have an hour to themselves and each other twice a day (except on Saturdays). Optional (and for a fee) there is the sleep-in service from 7 to 10 am (from Monday to Friday).

A large swimming pool (100m2) and a separate children's pool guarantee summer water fun.

Whether it is a guest room, a gîte or a large lodge tent, a holiday at Domaine de la Porte guarantees enjoyment with a capital 'E' where relaxation and conviviality are paramount, children have the time of their lives and parents can enjoy themselves and each other.

The area surrounding Domaine de la Porte is that of the French countryside, at the crossroads of the Berry, Poitou-Charentes and Limousin regions.

There are a thousand and one things to discover in the immediate vicinity. Valleys and rolling landscapes, rivers and lakes alternate rapidly. In between there are authentic rural villages, where people radiate friendliness and consider hospitality to be the most ordinary thing in the world.

There are also art and cultural historical sights, from churches and abbeys from the Middle Ages to Gothic and Romanesque buildings.

Les Hérolles is located in the most south-eastern point of the l'Anglin valley. To the north above the river La Creuse is the beautiful nature reserve of the Brenne, also known as the land of a thousand lakes.

In short, if you prefer fashionable, noisy tourist resorts with 'disco' entertainment, we must disappoint you, because that atmosphere cannot be found here. People have not heard of mass tourism here. It is fantastic for those who find peace, space, culture and natural beauty attractive.

Abbey of Saint Savin

The Abbey of Saint Savin is particularly beautiful. The church of this abbey dates from the 11th century. The many wall and ceiling paintings (frescoes) that can be seen here are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. On the upper floor of the abbey, the life of the monks, who had their domicile here for a long time, is beautifully depicted.

Limoges - Poitiers

To get a taste of the hustle and bustle of the city, the cities of Poitiers and Limoges are reasonably close. They are both real French student cities, where life is very vibrant and where numerous shops, boutiques and restaurants have their doors wide open and welcome you warmly.

Limoges owes its fame mainly to the porcelain industry, which originated at the end of the 18th century. It not only produces tableware, but also art and decorative objects. In and around Limoges you can visit various porcelain factories and the Musée National Adrien-Dubouché in Limoges is a true paradise for porcelain lovers.

Montmorrilion

Montmorrilion is called the city of art and culture and is located in the heart of Poitou-Charentes. The art of printing and the art of calligraphy originated here and are the pride of the city. Numerous shops, where you can browse and shop, stylishly express these forms of craftsmanship with their beautiful windows. A visit to the 12th century l'Octogine and the Chapelle of Saint Laurent just outside the city is a must.

Les Hérolles

Once a month, on the 29th, one of France's largest authentic farmers' markets takes place here. The market dates back to the 15th century and is one of the largest farmers' markets in France. Les Hérolles owes its existence to this. Farmers from far and wide come here to offer their goods, so that the most delicious farm and regional products are displayed in the stalls. Worth a visit!
