Since fall 2007 we live in La Bastide.
La Bastide is part of the village Goulles and there are two houses and a large barn,
the barn is restored and transformated in a bed & breakfast.
She is impressive by its size and her location.
High on the hill (500m), she dominates the valley.
We fell in love immediately.
She was built by Pierre Bru in 1830, whose name was engraved in a stone above the entrance of the stable.
Raised with collected materials, often stones and beams from decayed barns or houses.

La Bastide is located in the centre of France, Pays de Xaintrie near an unspoiled woody valley where you can go for beautiful and adventurous walks.
A place to enjoy the quietness and be amazed by the beauty of the wild nature in the forests and small brooklets.
Nearby you can visit the mediaeval Tours de Merle with lots of attractions
or make a interesting walk in the astonishing Gorges de La Cère.
From Argentat you can canoe on the Dordogne river down to the pleasant city of
Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne with her pittoresk old citycenter.
