Located within the heart of the Cathar Country, at the gates of the majestic Peaks of the Défilé de la Pierre Lys and the Pyrenees, Karine and Dirk would like to welcome you in their romantic B&B.
Their 3 rooms and 2 studio apartments (with kitchen) of Mediterranean style will make your stay comfortable within a calm and beautiful environment. All the rooms are south facing and have their own parking place, private bathroom, terrace, air-conditioning/heating, television and wifi connection. There is a garden with BBQ area, a swimming pool with lounge-chairs, ping-pong table and a playground for children. Halfway between the sea and mountains, only one hour from the ski slopes of Font Romeu and the Mediterranean beaches of Argelès-sur-Mer, the place is perfect for a quiet or active stay.
For whitewater enthusiasts, the region is a top destination for rafting and hydrospeed canyoning. But also for those who prefer a more relaxed fishing experience, the rivers and mountain lakes teem with fish. Cyclists can conquer a different mountain pass from the famous Tour de France every day, and for mountain bikers, there's an extensive network of well-marked mountain bike trails with spectacular descents.
Climbs can indulge themselves on the steep walls of the Gorges de La Pierre Lys, and hikers can get to know the region and its inhabitants better along the 200 km of marked trails. Or, for those who prefer a steeper climb, the higher mountains await. In winter, the nearby ski slopes at an altitude of 2400 meters offer fun for all ages, and finally, motorcyclists will find the quiet roads and winding bends of the Languedoc a true delight.
Visit the castles
Whether you visit the touristy medieval city of Carcassonne or the lesser-known Arques, Puivert, Puilaurens, Montségur, Quéribus, or Peyrepertuse, it's a fascinating journey into the past! Let yourself be transported to the bygone era of the mysterious Cathars…
Visit the wine cellars
The Sieur d’Arques wine cellars in Limoux are as important to the Languedoc as Reims is to the Champagne region. Did you know that Blanquette is the precursor to Champagne, and not the other way around?! Definitely worth a visit! The Maury wine cellars. More discreet, with a southern accent, where sweet wines blend with characterful reds. A must-see!
Visit the museums
At the Quercob Museum in Puivert, discover or rediscover craftsmanship and medieval traditions. Or visit the Tautavel Museum, where the oldest man in Europe was found! The incredibly well-equipped Dinosaur Museum in Espéraza and the Hat-Making Museum, a source of income that made Espéraza the European capital of headgear in the 19th century. The country is known for its beautifully situated castles and its varied natural environment.
