Welcome at our place !
BASALTURE is an old farmhouse, built in the typical basalt stone and renovated with ecological natural materials, preserving the charm of the original building and the necessary modern comfort.
We welcome you in a converted part of the stable, where a large staircase gives access to the different floors. On the landing, a small library and lounge invite you to immerse yourself in a book.
All three rooms have a beautiful view of the valley, and you look to the Aubrac plateau.
In the evening, you can us at the large guest table in the living room with its open kitchen for a healthy meal, prepared with local products and vegetables from the garden. As soon as the weather permits, we serve breakfast and dinner on the terrace outside.
Our mass stove provides pleasant warmth in the house in winter. In the off-season, we like to nestle down in front of the cosy fireplace - the typical ‘cantou’.
In our garden we grow vegetables and fruit, but it is also a place to enjoy nature and dream away.
And when you hear a crackling wood fire and are attracted by the smell of freshly baked bread, we baked some delicious breads in our restored bakery with wood-fired oven.
As sporty nature lovers, we were attracted to this region and decided to settle closer to nature and live more intensely to the rhythm of the seasons . We like to share our passion for sport and nature with our guests. So we have electric bikes available, we offer a range of very diverse walks, and you can recharge your batteries with a forest bath.
We aim to provide quality and a warm and personal welcome.
Our house is located in the northernmost village of the Aveyron department, near the Plomb de Cantal, overlooking the Aubrac plateau, not far from the Gorges de Truyère and the Lot valley.
It is a lesser-known, little-populated region where you can still really experience nature and where agriculture plays an important economic role. In terms of tourism, there is something for everyone. Sports enthusiasts can indulge in the range of hiking and cycling tours on offer. Experienced hikers can find themselves on tough hikes with considerable altitude difference, and for recreational hikers there is a range of signposted tours through woods, meadows and past waterfalls. Trail runners are spoilt for choice with a network of trails in Cantal and in the Lot and Truyère valleys.
Several other outdoor sports can also be practised nearby : Via Ferrata, a canyon, canoeing down the Lot and natural climbing sites.
In winter, it's an ideal base to go snow rocketing in the countryside and even to enjoy a day of alpine skiing at the Lioran ski station or on the Aubrac family slopes.
In summer, you can go for a refreshing dip in the Sarrans or Saint-Gervais lake.
If you like visiting castles (Valon, Messilhac, Estaing, etc.), and villages and stopping to taste local gastronomic dishes, you won't be disappointed either.
For a day trip, you can go in different directions. To the Cantal massif with the Puy Mary, a recurring stage in the Tour de France. Further south to Conques, an important stop on the Compostella pilgrimage or to Rodez, known for its pink sandstone cathedral and several museums.
